ICMA is providing case studies and education for local government managers on the use of body worn cameras in police departments.

ICMA has been tapped to develop case studies and provide marketing, outreach, and education for city and county managers on the use of body worn cameras in police departments.

ICMA’s work is performed as a subcontractor to CNA on a project funded by the Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Bureau of Justice Administration. The Center for Public Safety Management, the exclusive provider of public safety technical assistance for ICMA, serves as a subject-matter expert in developing the content and planning effective marketing and outreach activities.

The workplan for ICMA’s contribution to the project includes the following:

  1. Develop an executive-level briefing targeted directly to local government managers featuring at least four case studies on body worn cameras as well as available federal and other resources. These case studies will form the basis for an extended content marketing campaign to include the development of a publication for distribution both electronically and in print format at conferences.
  2. Implement a content marketing campaign based on the case studies and other resources, to include e-newsletter articles, downloadable checklists and infographics, social media; a webinar; and other resources distributed through the website and communication channels of ICMA and its partners.
  3. Showcase the case studies and conduct product demonstrations through sessions at ICMA’s Annual Conference in San Antonio in October 2017.
